More About the Cat Tale

Today, as promised, my update on the alien cat tale. I’ve started writing it, and am quite a few pages into it now. And I have worked a bit more on the background. I had a lot of help with that from a chat-friend, we bashed ideas around for more than an hour. I totally love doing that, I’m much more creative that way. And we might even do more stories together, but that’s still up in the air.

The alien now has a name: Gnari.

That simply means “cat” in one of the languages spoken in Papua Newguinea. (Yep, that’s part of my insane name finding strategies.) Funny enough, there is a company producing car parts with that name – so my MC might have to change names. At any rate, I tried to draw a cat’s face … with not so insane drawing skills.

And the author has a name, as well: Dagmar Faust. We spent quite a while discussing what she’s actually writing. We ended up with YA fantasy and some SF, mostly because that’s what I’m writing, and they do say write what you know.  She’s a little older than I am, but also living alone (which makes the story much less complicated!).

Because my chat-friend is American and I want to translate the tale once it’s finished, we chose an American home for Dagmar Faust. She lives on the West Coast of the US, in a small town at the coast. Thus it will be possible to have adventures both on the sea and in forests, or even in the mountains. Why America? It’s likely that in the long run, most of my readers will come from English-language countries, probably the US. So that’s why.

And now I want to get back to the story. Gnari just discovered Dagmar’s computer, and got shooed away from it. So he’ll try to use it at night, as soon as possible. And might get caught … *grins*
